Vampire Dreams - RFW Challenge No 47 - House of Halloween Horrors!

My black mystical entry for RFW's
Hallowe'en House of Horrors.

Vampire Dreams:

In the still of the night Breathless, pounding heart;
How close will he come The deed to be done?
Shivering, stilled in the
gloom,
Clouds skittering past a silver moon;
A hoot, a toot, a flap of wings Who
is it who wears glittering rings?
A snowy owl, swooping past; No moon to light his path
Hear footsteps on flagstones; As moonbeams dance
on gravestones!
Shadows darting here and there Please, please, don't get tangled
in my hair
See his breath now on frosting air Sparkle in eyes, scintillating
hair
He has but a short while, to quaff from the longed for vile
Soon to be heard a sprightly lark; He must then dash away to the dark
The kiss,
the hunger, the hold; No escape from one so bold
Agony and ecstasy of ill-timed
bliss; Power of attraction no dismiss
He always returns, driven by lust; Life's potent wine the inner must
A wanton smile, His token of trust and guile; But, how much, how much, will he want of the blooded nile?
It is the moment it is the time
The crossing of ever lasting line;
No escape from the dream; See the mystical catlike gleam
Too late, too late; He's opened his blood-lined cape;
Oh Mystical phantom of sensual nights Drifting, drifting in ecstasy
This is the way, the way it was meant to be!

Francine,

I love poetry, and a vampire love poem, nothing better. Almost want to expose my neck! :)

Really enjoyed this one!

Wow, Francine. I didn't know you wrote poetry as well. And you do it so well. Well done.

Hi Yolanda,

Thank you so much for dropping by to comment.

I do like going over to the dark side on occasion of Halloween, and I've done witches to death in the past. :)

Hi Kiru,

Thanks for stopping by and the compliment.

I did pen a Historical Erotic Vampire novel (published) some years ago - Masquerade New York. I may try and locate it in the labyrinth of my once dark existence within the realms of erotica. Be interesting to revamp it as an ebook. ;)

The darkness is always an attraction...nice description of the shadowy vampire and his allure

This was great. It really pulled me and wasn't the least bit cheesy (hard to do). You embodied the fear and romance of the genre.

Love it!

Ah, Francine, you show'd 'em. You do write poetry, and in a unique style. I picked up several allusions in my one reading, and am sure there's others I missed. Loved it. 'Oh Mystical phantom of sensual nights...' A great entry to our Halloween blogfest!

What a lovely rhythm to your poetry which lulls the reader into a slight sense of security until it is 'too late, too late.' Great.

Hi Heaven,

Thank you for dropping by. Will be over to yours soon as possible. Family weekend!

Hi D,

Sometimes few words can show a scene rather than gtel it, and have a beginning, middle and end! ;)

Now I wandered in expecting a sample of historical fiction and I get surprised with a vampirical verse! Still with an old-world feel. Lots of fun.

Hi Francine
A poem! You're so talented. Loved the spooky feel and the owl. We'd all better keep the windows and doors locked. Great job.

Hi Nancy,

I do love night walks. Every thing takes on a whole different perspective. Things seem to loom larger at night than during the day. Bats in particular. ;)

Hi,Francine.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this poem. I believe this is the first one I have read from you. What a wonderful surprise. I really enjoyed it.

You should write more; you do have a gift for it.

Well done!

Francine! It has been a while since I've stopped by. The blog is looking great. :) Thanks for sharing this with us; I've read a few poems for this challenge, but none quite like this one. I especially like how you formatted your poem...you know, when it comes to poetry, presentation is almost as powerful as the words and can add so much to the piece. Great job!

Apologies for being late; I am just now getting through all of the House of Horrors excerpts. Hope you're having a great weekend so far!

Hi Wendy Lu,

Thanks so much for stopping by. As you say, formatting of poetry sets its pace and emphasises on specifics.

I'm late getting round everyone this time, and must get a move on before the judging is done and dusted if not already. ;)

Hi Crystal,

I'm so glad you thought the phantom had sex appeal! The essence of romance and sex appeal was lost on a few who read it! ;)

Oh yes, I like! The language, style, sensuality and the hush of darkness. *Gasp*;)

Francine Howarth said...

Hi Adura,

Thanks for stopping by... As you will have realised this was my last post for RFW! I thought I might as well go out on vampire theme, all dark, sensual and lusty... ;)

Hope things are going well with you and yours and your writing...
